American scientist, speaker, and inventor who rose to fame after winning the Grand Prize at the first-ever Google Global Science Fair in 2011. She won the fair at age 17 for her research on cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug. In 2023 she was named one of Forbes 30 under 30 for science. She co-founded a company called Piper which provides STEM education kits for kids. Her family moved from California to Texas when she was 5, and she attended high school at Fort Worth Country Day School. She graduated from Harvard University in 2016 and went for her MD and PhD at Duke University afterward.
