Singer and songwriter who gained renown for finishing in the top 8 contestants on the NBC reality singing competition show The Voice. She appeared during the show's 1st season, and finished in coach Adam Levine's top 2. She began teaching herself to play the guitar at age 15. In April 2009, she won the Colgate Country Showdown in Florida, which earned her her first wide exposure.
