Designed the California landmark, Bob's Big Boy restaurant, in 1949, as well as the first resort hotel on the Vegas strip, 1941's El Rancho Vegas. Created the circular drive-in Southern California restaurants, Simon's, Herbert's, and Robert's. He dropped out of high school; he designed the Agua Caliente Casino and Hotel in 1928, his first major commission. He designed the Biltmore Bowl, which was home to several Academy Awards ceremonies.
