Timothy Michael "Tim" Kaine is an American politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Virginia. A member of the Democratic Party, Kaine was elected to the Senate in 2012 and was the nominee of his party for Vice President of the United States in the 2016 election. Kaine was born at Saint Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is the eldest of three sons.
